Dear Members and Guests of
the Critical Facilities Round Table,
Please accept our
invitation to the 16th Quarterly membership meeting of the Critical
Facilities Round Table. This membership meeting is open only to representatives of organizations that own and operate data
centers and similar critical facilities.
Many thanks to KC Mares and
to Yahoo! for providing the facilities, communications, and refreshments that
will help make this event a successful one.
This is CFRT's opportunity to have
a closed door and intimate conversation with EPA leadership for
Server and Data Center Energy Programs, and to openly ask questions about
new federal government initiatives and regulations that will effect how
we design and operate our critical facilities in the future. See the
attached Newsletter article to be released in
September.
We will follow our
discussion with Andrew with an open session that will include input
from several other leaders, from within our membership and the local
data center community, to discuss other industry and government programs now
in progress.
Then Yahoo! will share their
progress with plans to support Sustainability and Energy
Efficiency objectives in their own data centers around the
globe.
Note that an optional lunch
will be provided by Yahoo!, starting at 11:30 AM, for those who
wish to remain and discuss action plans and continued support of the
subject programs. Please indicate your plans to stay for lunch with
your RSVP.

Impacts on Data Centers and Federal Government Initiatives to Alleviate
Growing Pains" by Andrew Fanara,
Director U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR® Program
Andrew Fanara will convey the Federal Government's vision and response
to helping data centers counter the inevitable rising cost of doing business
as a result of growing energy trends, and how these initiatives can play a
significant role in the data center community’s search for improved
energy-efficient data center design and operation. Andrew is the primary
author of EPA's July 2007 Report to Congress on Server and Data
center Energy Effciency responding to Federal Law 109-431. We will
discuss how CFRT can play a role in supporting EPA's initiatives and how our
indiviual companies can get involved at a higher level.

THINK TANK ... "How Can We get involved with other
Supportive Groups ... the Green Grid, DOE's Save Power Now Program,
the Green Building Council's Data Center LEED Program, and other
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Initiatives" with Several Local Industry
Leaders
We plan
to receive direction from several industry leaders to discuss
how CFRT and our individual companies can become more educated about and more
involved with the several groups now dedicated to Energy Efficiency in
our Critical Facilities. LBNL will
explain DOE's Energy Efficiency Audit Program now in
development. AMD will describe how we can
all get more involved with the Green Grid. SVLG will explain what is happening with GBC's
LEED-DC certification for data centers. And, other leaders will be
invited to stand before us and describe the opportunities available to us in
this new and booming Green ecomony. We want your thoughts and ideas,
too! Hopefully, we will finish this up with action plans and
initiatives for continued CFRT leadership with EPA and
others.
11:15 "Yahoo! Energy
Efficiency and Sustainability Programs" by KC Mares, Director
of Global Data Center Strategy at
Yahoo!
Hear about technological and programmatic
initiatives now being implemented at one of the world's greatest Internet
Companies. Consider how Yahoo's corporate development landscape can
serve as a model for the development of your own company's
programs.
11:30-1:00 PM Adjournment/ Join our group for lunch in
Yahoo!'s cafeteria to network about how we can continue to support these
government and industry inititiaves, OR join your
friends & colleagues for lunch at one of
many neighboring restaurants in the heart of Silicon
Valley!

to seeing you at this event. Thank you again for your
support of the CFRT, and best regards from the Founders
